Frequently Asked Questions
Unify your games. Reclaim your PC.
Installation & Setup
Get NexusPlay running smoothly on your machine. We handle the heavy lifting so you can focus on playing.
How does NexusPlay scan for standalone games?
NexusPlay automatically crawls common directories (Steam, GOG, Epic, and custom paths) for .exe and .sh launchers. It reads metadata from manifest files and folder structures to populate your library without requiring online authentication or publisher servers.
Can I launch games without an internet connection?
Yes. Once installed, NexusPlay operates entirely offline. Cloud sync, achievement tracking, and library updates require connectivity, but game launches, save management, and controller mapping function flawlessly on air-gapped systems.
Why is the first library scan taking over 10 minutes?
Large installations with 500+ titles require deeper file indexing to extract cover art, release dates, and mod compatibility tags. Subsequent scans take under 12 seconds. You can accelerate the process by disabling high-res asset fetching in Settings > Library > Performance.
Account & Licensing
Manage your digital keys, sync preferences across devices, and secure your progress.
Do I need to repurchase games to use NexusPlay?
No. NexusPlay is a launcher and library manager, not a storefront. It integrates directly with your existing Steam, GOG, Humble, and standalone keys. You own the files; NexusPlay simply organizes and launches them.
How does cross-device save synchronization work?
NexusPlay uses end-to-end encrypted vaults to sync .sav and .ini files across up to three registered devices. Conflicts are resolved using timestamp priority, and you can manually override via the Version History tab in the game’s profile menu.
Is my account data shared with third-party advertisers?
Never. NexusPlay operates on a zero-knowledge architecture. Playtime metrics, hardware specs, and library data are stored locally unless you explicitly opt into anonymous telemetry for performance benchmarking.
Compatibility & Anti-Cheat
Ensure seamless integration with modern titles, kernel-level security systems, and legacy hardware.
Does NexusPlay interfere with Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye?
No. NexusPlay runs as a non-invasive overlay process that hooks only at the DXGI/Vulkan presentation layer. It explicitly whitelists kernel-level anti-cheat drivers and avoids injecting into protected memory spaces, ensuring zero false-positive bans.
Can I use NexusPlay on Linux or Steam Deck?
Fully supported. The native Linux build leverages Proton-GE compatibility layers automatically for Windows-only titles. On Steam Deck, NexusPlay integrates with the Gaming Mode UI and respects controller deadzone presets out of the box.
What are the minimum specs for smooth library browsing?
NexusPlay requires a dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM, and 200MB of storage. For dynamic thumbnail generation and real-time performance overlay, we recommend an integrated GPU with DirectX 11 support or equivalent Vulkan drivers.
